Dr Martin Wählisch is Associate Professor of Transformative Technologies, Innovation and Global Affairs at the University of Birmingham, with a dual appointment across the School of Government and the School of Computer Science. His research explores how emerging technologies, AI governance, digital peacebuilding and VR/XR can support diplomacy, international relations and public affairs.

He leads work on The Xrisis Room, a mixed reality educational simulation for empathy-driven crisis negotiation and leadership training.
